A 31-tonne GVW on an 8×4 chassis sounds contradictory until you look at what it is built for: high-volume material on graded haul roads in markets where fuel quality varies and dealer diagnostics are not always available. This Auman GTL-E 8×4 is specified for Ghana and similar West African and Central Asian markets, running a Cummins ISGe3-430 — 430 PS and 2,100 N·m at 1,000 rpm — through a HOWO 12-speed to 5.26 axles, with a 7,800 mm body and a short sleeper cab. Deciding whether it fits your operation comes down to three things: what the body actually holds at 31 tonnes, whether China III is accepted where you register, and whether this is genuinely a mining tool. Start with the Auman GTL-E 8x4 dumper specification and read it alongside this.
The body measures 7,800×2,300×1,500 mm — roughly 27 cubic metres struck — but what you may load is set by the 31,000 kg GVW and the 9 T front and 16 T rear axle ratings rather than by volume. That distinction decides how you use this truck. With wet sand, gravel or crushed rock you reach the mass limit long before the body is full; with light material you fill it first.
So the first calculation is yours to make, and it is simple: take the bulk density of your material and divide 31,000 kg by it. Give that number to the dealer and ask them to confirm the legal load per trip. If the answer comes out well below 27 cubic metres, a shorter body will cost less, weigh less and turn tighter for the same payload — and the extra length here is doing nothing for you. If it comes out close to or above the body volume, this is the right body and the truck is correctly specified.
"Divide 31,000 kg by your material's bulk density before you look at anything else. That tells you whether the 7,800 mm body earns its length."
The engine is the Cummins ISGe3-430: 11,800 ml, 316 kW (430 PS) and 2,100 N·m at 1,000 rpm, homologated to China III. Torque of that size arriving just above idle is what makes a loaded start on a graded ramp feel unhurried, and it is the reason a 430 PS engine can be driven gently and still keep cycle times down. The sheet gives the torque and the engine speed but not the power rpm, so confirm the rated speed with the dealer if you want to compare it directly against other units in the range.
Drive goes through a HOWO HW23712 Iron (Q) 12-speed to 5.26 axles. Twelve ratios with a deep final drive is the right combination for haul roads: small steps keep the engine in its torque band, and the deep ratio gives the low-speed pull needed on gradients. HOWO is a widely distributed driveline brand in exactly the markets this truck targets, which matters more than brand prestige — a gearbox your local workshop has seen before is a gearbox that gets repaired quickly.
For haul road and quarry work it is well specified. The 8×4 layout with a 9 T front axle, 16 T rear axles, 5.26 final drive and 2,100 N·m from 1,000 rpm gives the low-speed pull and load spread needed on graded haul roads, and the 12-speed box holds a gear on long gradients. The 13R22.5 18PR tubeless radials across thirteen wheels and the 11/11/14 leaf springs are built for punishing duty.
The honest limit is extreme off-road mining, where a purpose-built mining chassis is the right tool. This is a road-specified heavy dumper that will work hard on maintained haul roads, not a machine designed for deep ruts and constant articulation. Braking is air brakes with front and rear drums under ABS — correct for dust and grit, cheap to reline, repairable locally — but drums fade on long descents. Select the gear before the gradient and let the engine hold the truck. The sheet lists no engine brake or retarder, so ask whether one can be specified.
"This is a haul-road truck, not a pit truck. Maintained surfaces and graded ramps are where the 5.26 ratio and 2,100 N·m earn their keep."
The cab is a short sleeper in left-hand drive, seating two. That is a meaningful upgrade over a flat-roof day cab for operations where drivers wait at a face or queue at a crusher: there is somewhere to rest between runs rather than sitting upright in the seat. Two seats still means a driver and a banksman, not a crew. The sheet lists no air conditioning or infotainment detail for this unit, so confirm both with the dealer — in this climate, air conditioning is a retention item rather than a comfort one.
The emission rating deserves a clear answer because it shapes your whole ownership experience. This truck is homologated to China III, broadly comparable to Euro III and widely accepted for commercial-vehicle import into Ghana and similar West African markets. It carries no SCR or DPF, so the engine tolerates variable fuel quality and can be maintained by local workshops without dealer diagnostics. That is a genuine advantage where fuel sulphur is inconsistent and dealer networks are thin. Import rules do change, so confirm with your registration authority before ordering.
The listing shows 317,763, with quoted figures of RMB 262,157 FOB Africa and RMB 272,357 DAP Central Asia, both net of tax. Those two quotes cover very different things: FOB leaves ocean freight, insurance and destination charges to you, while DAP delivers to a named place in Central Asia with those costs included. Ask the dealer to state which basis applies to your order and what is excluded, then compare like for like. Check the currency of the headline figure too, since the pack quotes RMB elsewhere.
The sales country recorded for this specification is Ghana, and the vehicle is left-hand drive with an overall length of 10,680 mm — well outside a standard container, so plan on RoRo or flat rack. Confirm that LHD is registrable in your market, check that 31,000 kg and these axle loads fall inside your licensing class, and get the shipping method and freight confirmed for your discharge port before placing a deposit.

Whether air conditioning and infotainment are fitted to this unit; whether an engine brake or retarder can be specified; the currency and basis of the headline price; and the warranty terms and service intervals for the ISGe3-430 and the HOWO gearbox.
Our read: this is a well-judged specification for high-volume haulage on maintained roads in markets where simple, serviceable emissions equipment is an advantage rather than a compromise. The 430 PS and 2,100 N·m combination is generous for 31 tonnes, and the absence of SCR and DPF will please any operator who has dealt with variable fuel quality. Confirm your material density, your registration rules and the price basis, and the decision makes itself.
