A construction tipper destined for the Gulf has to answer three questions before any others: will the cooling and air conditioning cope, will the after-treatment survive the local fuel, and can the body genuinely carry what is loaded into it. Get those wrong and no amount of horsepower rescues the purchase. The Foton Auman GTL-E 6x4 460 hp dump truck for Saudi Arabia is listed at $64,480 and carries specification detail — including the full gear ratio set — that lets you answer all three.
Power comes from the Foton Cummins ISGe5-460, an in-line six-cylinder turbocharged diesel of 11.8 litres. Maximum power is 331 kW, 460 PS, at 1,900 rpm, with maximum torque of 2,300 Nm at 1,100 rpm. It is paired with a dry-type diaphragm clutch of 430 mm diameter.
What makes this sheet unusually useful is that the Sinotruk HW23712C(Q) 12-speed manual publishes every ratio: 11.8, 9.17, 7.10, 5.61, 4.38, 3.44, 2.70, 2.10, 1.62, 1.28, 1.00 and 0.79 forward, with reverse at 10.85 and 2.48. A first gear of 11.8 behind a 5.26 final drive tells you this truck will crawl away loaded on a ramp; the 0.79 top ratio, along with the modest cruising speed it implies, tells you equally clearly what it is not meant to do.
This engine meets Euro V through SCR, which means it needs ultra-low-sulphur diesel and AdBlue. That is not a footnote for a GCC buyer — it is the operating condition the whole after-treatment system assumes. Running high-sulphur fuel will damage the system, and it is the most common cause of disputes on trucks of this type.
So do the check the sheet asks you to do: establish what is actually sold at your site and along your route before ordering. Where your supply chain is consistent, Euro V costs you nothing beyond a consumable to manage. If only higher-sulphur fuel is available at your operating locations, say so early and discuss alternatives rather than discovering the problem through a derate.
"Euro V through SCR is fine — provided the diesel you actually buy matches the fuel the system was designed for."
The dump body internal dimension is 5,500–5,600 × 2,350 × 1,600 mm giving around 21 m³, built in T700 high-strength steel with a 10 mm floor and 8 mm sides. Rated GVW, however, is 25,000 kg, and that second number is the one that governs.
At roughly 1.5 tonnes per cubic metre, aggregate or ore fills the truck at about two-thirds of the body volume, so the full 21 m³ is unusable for dense material and the weight arrives first. Where the full volume pays off is lighter cargo: dry gravel, sand and spoil. If your work is mostly dense material, ask for a shorter body in thicker plate and accept the volume you cannot use.
Tipping is by front lifting with a HYVA system, and there is a sensible engineering argument for it. A front-mounted telescopic cylinder lifts a long body more evenly, keeps the load stable on uneven ground and gives a steeper dump angle, which helps with sticky material. It also puts the cylinder ahead of the cab where it is easier to inspect.
Two things belong on your order paperwork as a result: have the seal kit and hose part numbers confirmed so your workshop can hold spares, and confirm the hydraulic oil grade recommended for GCC summer temperatures. Getting either wrong turns a five-minute repair into a truck off the road.
The cab is the GTL-E 2490 flat roof with one bed and seating for two, on semi-floating spring suspension, with manual cab tilting. Automatic air conditioning is standard, alongside an airbag seat, power windows and central locking, a multifunction steering wheel and MP5 entertainment with radio and USB.
Automatic climate control is not a comfort item in this market; without it you will struggle to hold drivers through summer. The electrical system is 24 V with two 180 Ah batteries, which is generous and better suited to high ambient temperatures and long idling than a single-battery setup. Note that mirrors are manual adjustment and no radar is fitted as standard.
"In the Gulf, automatic air conditioning and twin 180 Ah batteries are availability items, not luxuries."
Service braking is full air with ABS and drums front and rear, on a 9-tonne front axle and 16-tonne rear axle. The important extra here is the engine brake listed as auxiliary braking, which on a loaded descent saves service brakes and gives a driver a margin he does not otherwise have.
Suspension is leaf with 11 leaves front and rear, and the frame is a reinforced 225/320 × 90 × (8+7) mm section. Tyres are 12.00R20 18PR across ten wheels plus a spare, with Z8 and VX alternatives listed. Steering is power-assisted through an AM105L-S unit, and the 450-litre aluminium tank is usefully larger than the 350-litre fitment common on this platform elsewhere.
Chassis dimensions are 7,525 × 2,558 × 3,155 mm and overall vehicle dimensions 8,200 × 2,558 × 3,815 mm, on a 3,800 + 1,400 mm wheelbase. That is a compact footprint for a 6x4 carrying this much body, and it suits construction sites where access is constrained but not tight enough to justify something smaller.
The factory lists bulk material transport, construction site work and mining operations as the target applications, and with a 68,000 kg GCW there is real capacity for trailer work too. At $64,480 this is priced above simpler Euro III models on the platform, which is what the after-treatment, the larger tank, the HYVA body and the engine brake are paying for.
For Gulf construction and mining operations where fuel quality is not in doubt, this is a well-documented, honestly specified machine — the ratio set alone lets your engineers check it before purchase. The Auman GTL-E 460 hp page is where the body, axles and readiness details get settled.
The body measures about 5,600 × 2,350 × 1,600 mm for roughly 21 m³, but at 25,000 kg GVW you reach the weight limit well before the volume limit with dense material. At around 1.5 t/m³, aggregate or ore fills the truck at roughly two-thirds of the body, so a shorter, thicker-plate body is the better specification. Lighter loads such as sand and dry gravel are where the full 21 m³ pays off.
A front-mounted HYVA telescopic cylinder lifts a long body more evenly, keeps the load stable on uneven ground and gives a steeper dump angle that helps with sticky material, while putting the cylinder ahead of the cab where it is easier to inspect. Confirm the seal kit and hose part numbers with the order so your workshop can hold spares, and check the hydraulic oil grade recommended for GCC summer temperatures.
It needs ultra-low-sulphur diesel and AdBlue, because the ISGe5-460 meets Euro V through SCR. Running high-sulphur fuel damages the after-treatment system and is the most common cause of disputes on trucks of this type. Check what is actually sold at your site and along your route before ordering, and if only higher-sulphur fuel is available, raise it early so alternatives can be discussed.
